Founded in 2002, The Western Connecticut Youth orchestra now consists of over ninety auditioned musicians ages eight to eighteen hailing from twenty towns in Connecticut.

Their mission includes; providing young musicians with an opportunity to develop their talents through the highest quality music education and performance opportunity, to provide culture enrichment, and to nurture the love of music and develop the knowledge of and encourage appreciation for classical concert repertoires. The Hartford Symphony Orchestra has been recognized as one of the largest leading regional orchestras in America. They perform more than 100 concerts annually, including the masterworks series, POPS!, Sunday Serenades, Jazz & Strings, Lincoln Financial Discovery concerts, and symphonies.

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1934 and is now the Connecticut's premier music organization making its 69th season in 2012-2013. The organization's success has been due to extensive communication and involvement of the musicians to the level of being included in the executive and all major board committees.

Non-Profit Community Orchestra

Now in its 82nd season, Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra is the capital oldest non-profit community orchestra in Connecticut. It attracts soloists of national renown, including pianist Arthur Balsam, flutist Julius Baker, and bassist Karr whose hilarious performance of the Bottesini Grand Duo Concertante, with Renato as co-soloist, would never be forgotten. An annual student concerto competition also helps to discover and nurture new young talents.

For the past 15 years their performance has been held in Trinity Episcopal Church were they have been busy in completing a full century of music making for the enjoyment and benefit of the members and audience alike. The symphony reaches an annual audience of 20,000 at ten classical concerts, three Mozart and friends recitals, one Stern Showcase Recital, three Exploring the orchestra family mini-concerts, and numerous community enrichment activities.

Youth Orchestra

Are you young and in love with music? You can now utilize your energy as you develop your talent. The Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras is the place for you. Founded in 1961, it offers one of the finest opportunities for young musicians in Connecticut. It's comprised of five performing ensembles: the principal, the symphony, the concert, the string orchestras and the wind ensemble.

The ensembles are supported by complete set of professional education, coaching and conducting. The five ensembles bring young people together for music, enjoyment and learning. Also through rehearsals and formal performance, the young musicians gain valuable experience and important sense of achievement as they use their energy and talents in entertaining the community through music.

A True Community Orchestra

Started in 2002 by conductor John Ringo and his wife Cheryl, Colchester Civic Orchestra is a nonprofit organization which has had tremendous growth over the years. With nearly 60 members from towns all over Connecticut, and performing at many venues such as, Sunset Sounds, the beautiful grounds of the Goodspeed Opera House, and Bacon Academy, it's truly an orchestra for the community.

It's comprised of three groups: the orchestra, choir, and jazz band. It performs a variety of music to meet the needs of all music lovers, from classical pieces such as Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, to pop pieces such as Harry Potter, hit songs from Phantom of the opera Big Band Jazz, and more.

A Premier Undergraduate Orchestra

Formed nearly a decade ago by a group of Yale students who sensed the need for an ensemble devoted to the performance of orchestra repertoire, The Yale Symphony Orchestra now enjoys a reputation as one of the premiere undergraduate orchestras in Connecticut, performing more than six concerts every year. The group has had tremendous achievements with the production of its annual Halloween show in full costume at its permanent place in Yale lore.

Having overcome numerous challenges and filled with constant experimentation, the orchestra not only as a music outlet for its players but also as an important venue of performance of new music. They have been honored to present national and world wide premieres of many works, among them the European premiere of Leonard Bernstein's Mass in 1973. Also their alumni have achieved rich music careers, and many have earned a worldwide reputation.
